Day 70

Big day… Tons of climbing, and hit a new high point on Lost Ranger Peak at 11,932 feet. Then walked the divide above 11,000 feet for a bit… Very pretty but surprisingly cold!

The rest of the day was just nice strolling once I got down from the high parts, ended up doing pretty nicely – well setup to get in and out of Steamboat Springs tomorrow.

It is definitely Labour Day weekend AND the start of both bow and rifle hunting season. Every other person I saw had some kind of giant weapon. They tell me that as long as I stay on trail I’m safe 🙂

One Response to Day 70

  1. Tom B. says:

Congrats on your progress toward enlightenment. A few selected Nietzsche apothegms to amuse and distract you.

    94. The maturity of man–that means, to have reacquired the seriousness that one had as a child at play.

    107. A sign of strong character, when once the resolution has been taken, to shut the ear even to the best counter-arguments. Occasionally, therefore, a will to stupidity.

    153. What is done out of love always takes place beyond good and evil.

    154. Objection, evasion, joyous distrust, and love of irony are signs of health; everything absolute belongs to pathology.

    155. The sense of the tragic increases and declines with sensuousness.

    156. Insanity in individuals is something rare–but in groups, parties, nations, and epochs it is the rule.
